**About CTS Youth Society**
Our mission is to connect every youth in Metro Vancouver with the natural environment and to the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks system and surrounding communities, in a hands-on way, to provide life changing experiences. Our motto of “For Youth, By Youth” is built into all facets of our organization.
CTS delivers on our mission by providing accessible camps for **free** to youth ages 12-18. We also promote youth leadership with our Peer Leader program, allowing youth ages 15-18 to take a central role in the operation and planning of our summer weekend camps, providing them with training sessions from April-June. The programs' goal is to:
Create region-wide opportunities for youth to challenge themselves in leadership, social responsibility, personal development, and youth ownership;
Provide an opportunity for youth to connect with their communities through citizen action, environmental stewardship, public service and community education;
Help support and integrate youth into park and community associated activities and purposes.
**Position Overview**
The Program Manager is part of a dynamic leadership team working together with the CTS Executive Director and Board of Directors to achieve the mission of CTS Youth Society. If you are a motivated and passionate leader with a desire to inspire youth and help them become strong leaders with a passion for the environment, then CTS wants to hear from you. We are seeking someone who not only brings creative ideas to the table, but who has the know-how and energy to make those ideas come to life. This position requires a high level of independence, self-motivation and organization in order to succeed.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Developing, coordinating, and delivering CTS programs, including the training program, the summer program (weekend overnight camps and day programs), and other activities supporting youth engagement.
- Supervising staff, including Volunteers, Counsellors, Supervisors, Youth Peer Leaders and program participants.
- Develop, deliver and coordinate seasonal training requirements for CTS Program Supervisors and Youth Peer Leaders.
- Coordinating camps and activities for CTS youth with program partners, including Metro Vancouver Parks, Park Partners, stewardship groups, families and youth and some corporate groups.
- Supervising and supporting the CTS Youth Council and related youth sub-committees
- Recruiting seasonal Camp Counsellors, Peer Leaders and participants, including participating and/or directly coordinating recruitment and selection process.
- Collaborating with the CTS Executive Director and CTSYS Board, to develop risk management and safety protocols, and oversee compliance in all CTS programming.
- Working with the CTS Executive Director, Marketing and Media Officer, and CTSYS to oversee the promotion and advertisement of CTS programs.
- Seek out and foster strong relationships with current and future partner organizations
- Review and revise current programming, policy, and procedures; ensure CTS programs reflect member expectations and current industry best practices
- Regularly engage with current youth members to meet their needs and interests; empower youth stakeholders to contribute to seasonal and longer-term planning
- Under the direction of the Executive Director completing administrative duties, including processing program registrations, providing website and social media updates, tracking program information and statistics, developing and updating program resources (e.g., training and program manuals), and fielding program inquiries from youth and their families
- Reporting to the CTSYS Executive Director and attending CTS Board meetings as required to participate in taking minutes, scheduling meetings, strategic development, budgeting, program planning and policy development activities.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Leadership development and mentorship skills, particularly with youth
- Communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to work effectively with youth, families, small community groups, schools and representatives of large organizations and corporations

- Team dynamic and management skills, particularly with seasonal summer staff
- First Aid (Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C or equivalent required, Wilderness First Aid or equivalent preferred) or willing to obtain for this job
- Foodsafe Level 1(or equivalent) or willing to obtain for this job
- Environmental stewardship and education
- Outdoor recreation skills and experience, particularly with youth
- Writing and editing
- Microsoft Office and Google Suite proficiency
