**Position Responsibilities**:
- Compliance and enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety programs, and working towards achieving an accident-free facility, conduct accident investigation when necessary. Conducting monthly OH&S and information meetings with employees.
- Plans manpower requirements for a department on a daily and weekly basis to achieve production volumes, takes ownership for product quality and standards, and yield and efficiency targets. Responsible for daily product and people scheduling including vacations and daily payroll approval
- Provide leadership to production staff. Maintain a positive labor relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, issues are dealt with in a timely manner, and employees are communicated with the employee and human resources in an open manner.
- Maximizes attendance and follow-up with human resources to reduce absenteeism by attendance program and coaching.
- Ensures machinery and equipment are safe, hourly employees are trained and qualified on machinery prior to working on machinery and equipment, communicate the implementation of new or changes to Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to ensure consistent product quality and progressive food safety program.
- Continuous improvement for the manufacturing processes.
- Interact regularly with other supervisors, plant superintendent, and other team members, including Quality Assurance, Health and Safety, Maintenance, scheduling, Purchasing and Human Resources utilizing daily manufacturing reports that capture manufacturing performance.
- Communicate with QA Manager and Maintenance personnel for any issues regarding machines and food safety.
- Communicate with Plant Manager for any schedule changes and priorities.
- Communicate with Plant Superintendent any issues regarding machines, employees, or production.
- Control product costs to ensure all product orders are produced at our standard dollar cost, on time with no shortfall in quality or quantity.
- Participate in the review and recommendation for capital improvements for equipment and plant facilities.
**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE**:
- 5-10 years of food processing industry experience.
- Leadership experience is an asset.
- Excels in a multicultural work environment.
- Mechanically inclined with hands-on experience in the operation and troubleshooting of food manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to collect data and prepare and interpret reports.
- Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required, including weekends.
