**Overview**:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled cook to join our team at I-Access Solutions to prepare nutritious meals for individuals experiencing homelessness. As a cook in the shelter, you will play a crucial role in providing comfort and nourishment to individuals experiencing homelessness.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan, prepare, and cook meals for residents of the homeless shelter, ensuring they meet nutritional standards and dietary requirements.
- Work with the shelter management team to create menus that are balanced, diverse, and cost-effective.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas, adhering to sanitation and safety standards at all times.
- Monitor food inventory levels and place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with volunteers and other staff members to facilitate meal service efficiently and effectively.
- Adapt recipes and meal plans as necessary to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences of shelter residents.
- Assist in training and supervising kitchen volunteers as required.
- Support a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the kitchen and dining areas, fostering dignity and respect for all individuals.

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience working as a cook or chef in a professional kitchen setting, preferably in a similar environment such as a shelter, community kitchen, or social services organization.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including proper food handling, storage, and hygiene procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing schedules and meal requirements.
- Passion for helping others and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations with dignity and compassion.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certification in food handling and safety
- Experience working with volunteers or coordinating meal service programs.
- Knowledge of nutrition principles and dietary guidelines.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfort working in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
