Position Status: Part-Time In-Determinate

16-20 hours a week, Monday - Thursday (Evenings)

*** Under the supervision of the Manager, Family Well-Being, the Evening Childcare Coordinator plans, coordinates and delivers childcare for Inuuqatigiit Centre’s evening drop-in programs.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan and deliver culturally based and family centered childcare program;
- Provide a culturally appropriate program environment for children and parents;
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities for children;
- Oversee and mentor junior staff to implement activities and supervise children in their care;
- Work in collaboration with staff to develop innovative and creative, culturally appropriate activities
- Schedule staffing for evening childcare, address performance concerns and provide feedback for performance review of junior staff, and encourage them in their learning;
- Under the direction of the manager, purchase materials needed;
- Identify and report on concerns, incidents, issues, and hazards related to the delivery of the childcare program, immediately to the manager;
- Comply with all recording and reporting requirements outlined in Inuuqatigiit Centre’s policies and procedures (e.g. incident reports);
- Meet all tracking, evaluation and reporting requirements of funder and Inuuqatigiit Centre (e.g. attendance, project statistics, project targets, surveys, etc);
- Understand and adhere to all program policies (e.g. health & safety);
- Participate in professional development opportunities as recommended/required by manager;
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as required;
- Communicate with parents following programming when required;
**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**
Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with co-workers, children and families.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Physical ability to access three-story building;
- Mental effort is required to deal with stress related to safety of children, program delivery and communications with parents;
- Ensure personal safety precautions are observed at all times; and
- Ensure Public Health Guidelines for COVID-19 Pandemic are followed at all times.

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Written and spoken fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset;
- Strong of the needs of Inuit children, youth and families;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Ability to work in a collaborative staff team environment;
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations;
- Ability to function effectively in a high stress, high noise environment;
- Good computer skills; and
- Highly organized, efficient, and accurate and able to take initiative.

**QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS**
- Inuit descent preferred;
- Early Childhood (ECE) diploma or equivalency an asset:

- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent;
- Experience working with Inuit or Indigenous communities preferred;
- Police Records Check-Vulnerable Sector Check required;
- Medical certification of good health and record of up-to-date immunizations; TB Test, if applicable; Proof of COVID-19 vaccine (Dose 1 &2); and
- First Aid/CPR Certification (or willingness to become certified).

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-20 per week
