**Objective**:
- Provide expertise and administrative support in the area of health and safety. This position will report directly to the Manitoba Saskatchewan (MBSK) H&S Manager, and work with MBSK and Western Canada (WCAN) health and safety team, to create and maintain the required databases and track and record safety related activities as recorded and reported by the respective operations. Ensure safety procedures, practices and training records are kept up to date and supervise and govern the H&S websites for the above mentioned purposes.**Responsibilities**:
- Work with WCAN Health and Safety Team to ensure H&S related data are gathered on timely bases and input in the relevant databases and websites
- Devise and upkeep the tracking mechanisms for leading and lagging H&S indicators
- Assists in the development of Safe Work Procedures, practices and JHAs for manufacturing, maintenance and operational functions.
- Participate in the delivery of safety communications and programs to support the Lafarge Health and Safety Management System.
- Participate and assists in the development and sourcing of new safety products ensuring consistency and financial prudence.
- Work with the WCAN H&S team to identify system, program and training needs within the region and ensure they are in line with the requirements of the health & safety management system.
- Assist in creating H&S safety manual and reference materials as required and directed by the H&S director.
- Assist the operations in their responsibilities with regards to management of safety, health and loss control issues.
- Develop and maintain a positive and proactive relationship with the operations as well as the WCAN H&S team.
- Follow-up on audit/ inspection recommendations to ensure all items have been completed on time and assist with removing any barriers to completion
- Conduct new hire orientations
- Development of custom reporting to present statistical information in a meaningful format
- Respond to information requests from operations.
- Arrange pre-employment and post incident D&A testing.
- Assist in entering local incidents into an internal database.
- Provide general office support.
- Other duties as required.
**Relationships with Other Jobs**:
- Work under direct supervision of the MBSK H&S Manager, but also take direction from the MBSK H&S Coordinator
- Work with Winnipeg operations as appropriate
- Liaise with the local and regional operations as required
**Dimensions**:
- Key metrics are: BU health and safety related KPIs, fleet accident rates, health & safety improvement plan implementation.
**Specific Accountabilities**:
- Ability to work flexible hours as dictated by the requirements of the position, including extra time at peak intervals
- Mature attitude and ability to work effectively independent of supervision
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to attend to detail, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Identification of development requirements and solutions related to Safety Management skills
**Qualification Profile**:
- Grade 12 Diploma or Certificate in office and administration
- Minimum 2 years in office admin support with strong background in Health and Safety
- Possession of Health and Safety certification/education is a definite asset
- Valid Class 5 License
