Manager, Regional Airlines and Markets

Reporting to the Director, Regional Airlines and Markets, the Manager, Regional Airlines and Markets will help oversee operational and commercial compliance with Air Canada's regional carriers. This position may be located in Montreal or Toronto.

The main responsibilities of the Manager, Regional Airlines and Markets include:

- Day-to-day oversight of the Capacity Purchase Agreements, including Jazz which represents AC's single largest supplier contract
- Lead audits at hub airports and identify root cause of inefficiencies. Act as an internal champion of all Air Canada regional carriers
- Lead operational improvement initiatives between Jazz & various AC departments
- Develop and maintain:

- relationships with all operational departments at Jazz & AC
- audit process at hub airports & regional carrier operations centres to monitor performance
- guides for service requirements and standards for regional carriers to ensure operational and commercial integrity
- Lead new regional route launches in collaboration with network planning, revenue management and government relations, ensuring our vendors and partners are setup for success. Proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Occasionally act as proxy to the Director, Regional Airlines and Markets in all matters
- Incrementally develop a well-rounded knowledge in all aspects of managing a regional carrier (operational, commercial, financial, contractual & community relations)
- Assist in contractual aspects of the regional carrier relationships, including financial and regional fleet elements
- Liaise with Network Planning on CPA fleet and schedule requirements
- Ensure all regional capacity is deployed to ensure maximum leverage for Air Canada
- Participate in internal financial and operational CPA review meetings
- Provide commercial and operational input to other groups within Air Canada (such as Sales, Government Relations, Marketing, Airport Development) with regards to Domestic and Transborder regional markets
- Establish standard reporting measures on regional operators/industry comparison reports
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders (primarily Airport Authorities)
- Represent Air Canada in regional markets across the AC network

**Qualifications**
- University degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to steer nuanced discussions around complex problems involving multiple organizations
- Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in airline industry or relevant experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage people
- Self-starter with demonstrated interpersonal skills and initiative
- Demonstrated change management and coaching skills
- Motivated by relationship management
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Moderate level of comfort with financial aspects of the airline business
- Understanding of business strategy particularly as it relates to the airline industry
- Understanding of the regional airline business model and industry
- Contract and SLA knowledge
- Established network of contacts within AC commercial and operational branches is a bonus
