**Position function**:
This position exists to ensure the well running of the shipping/Receiving function by verifying the packing slips, directing and supervising the work of the shippers/receivers, receiving specific loads, ensuring the quality and accuracy of shipments and dealing with issues with shipments.

**Organization Summary**:
The Lead-hand - Shipping/Receiving position is part of the distribution function within the operations department at Imperial manufacturing Group.

**Working Relationships**:
This position interacts primarily with the Distribution Manager for day-to-day direction, training and meeting required levels of work. This position also interacts with customers and truck drivers

**Work Performed**:
The key responsibilities for this position include:

- Assigning job orders to shippers/receivers by order of priority
- Verifying packing slips for all loads
- Dealing/troubleshooting with problems with orders i.e. problems with address, back orders, problems with paperwork, problem with courier companies, etc.
- Dealing with truck drivers, giving them packing slip/bill, dealing with truckers that are in a hurry and/or when loads are delayed
- Receiving specific orders from Imperial Manufacturing that requires some specific steps
- Doing start of day inspection on stacker
- Organizing warehouse in most efficient way possible

- Dealing with last minute add-ins or changes with load
- Leading, coaching, supporting, motivating, recognizing and Supervising employees in their work; and dealing with people issues; bringing up any significant issues to the immediate attention of the Warehouse and Warehouse and Production Supervisor; ensuring employees of the function follow all company policies.
- Reporting to the Distribution Manager any problems or discrepancies that he should know about regarding material quality, any problems with, availability of product, discrepancies regarding physical and electronic inventory, missing products in load, etc.
- Following all rules, policies and procedures while operating lift truck to ensure your personal safety and the safety of others around you; completing start-of-shift lift truck safety inspection checklist
- Following all rules/practices and policies pertaining to safety, including, but not limited to, wearing all required PPE, and ensuring all employees of the function do the same; fixing the problem and/or reporting all accidents, near misses, potential hazards or problems to the Distribution Manager; do daily safety talks with employees.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area and contributing to overall plant safety and cleanliness
- Performing all other duties assigned by the Distribution Manager.

**Exercising Judgment/Impacts of Decisions/Consequence of Error**:
This position is important to the efficient running of the warehouse area and to meet our customers need by ensuring all shippers/receivers are safe, efficient and help meet our customers demands while at the same time continuously helping hands on to achieve this.

**Supervision Received and Given**:
This position receives supervision, support and day-to-day direction Distribution Manager and any issues can be further escalated to Operations Manager.

**Typical Challenges Encountered**

The types of challenges typically encountered in this role include:

- Learning all the products sku’s, understanding codes
- Dealing with multiple demands and possible high volume
- Dealing with demands of occasional live loads
- Training new employees often
- Learning the most effective way to prioritize orders

**Qualifications**:
The types of qualifications needed for this job include:

- Experience with Lift Truck operations and/or having Lift Truck training
- Having ability to follow oral and written directions
- Having ability to lift loads of up-to 50lbs
- Having demonstrated ability to follow safe work practices
- Being proven leader and having ability to lead and motivate a team of employees
- Having high school diploma or equivalent would be a definite asset
- Being able to tolerate some level of stress and to deal with fast pace and high and/or changing work/products demands
- Having a proactive approach towards work and towards continuous improvement
- Having high level of prioritizing, job/task planning and organizing abilities
- Having strong multi-tasking, decision-making and critical thinking abilities
- Having good ability and knowledge of computers and technology
- Being able to function well in a team environment and having goodoral and written communication skills
- Being punctual and reliable

**Working Conditions**

The typical working conditions of this job include:

- Wearing required personal protective equipment (safety vests, steel toe footwear)
- Working with lift trucks in tight production environment
