Materials Coordinator

**Job Decription**:
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Materials Coordinator is responsible for determining and ordering appropriate quantities of food and non-food materials for day to day operations, and supports the Purchasing Manager with daily operations, including general clerical duties.
The Materials Coordinator will actively implement customer service initiatives and strategies to reduce cost and improve quality, and assist the Purchasing department with other project support.
**Job Duties**:
- Creates Purchase Orders and places orders with external suppliers.
- Monitors material usage and/or changes in material usage and communicates to suppliers.
- Responds to internal and external product and order inquires.
- Coordinates with suppliers to address quality issues, delivery shortages and deviations from production specifications which may be required after hours and on weekends.
- Maintains Requisition System and changes as necessary.
- Assists with sourcing new products and meal presentations.
- Ensure effective communication with internal departments and suppliers to ensure material changes are known and processes are followed to gain efficiencies and implement improvements.
- Coordinate with Goods Receiving Specialist with invoicing and receiving.
- Update all pricing issues to Purchasing Manager
- Performs additional duties assigned by the Purchasing Manager
**Skills and Abilities Required**:
- Associated degree or equivalent knowledge of SAPMM.
- 3 years’ experience working in a food service environment or food knowledge preferred.
- A successful record of performance that demonstrates ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Internalization of company initiatives including CFIA, HACCP, Work Safe, GQS.
- Working towards Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certificate or designation, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
- Results oriented problem solver.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead through teamwork and team building.
- Good time and project management skills.
