We facilitate the collaboration of individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities to understand and prevent violence and abuse. We serve local, national and international communities by producing useful information and tools to assist in the daily work to prevent and stop violence towards women and children and vulnerable adults.
**Responsibilities**:
The Centre Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Centre’s administrative operations related to financial, human and physical resources, and communication and marketing. The role implements and monitors business processes to mitigate financial, operational and legal risks, and works in collaboration to introduce changes to increase efficiency and meet objectives. The Centre Manager develops and presents reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all Western and funding agency policies, procedures and guidelines are met. In addition, the role works in consultation to recommend administrative strategies, which will enable the Centre to achieve its goals and objectives.
The Centre Manager also provides project support by acting in a supportive and advisory capacity to Principal Investigators and Directors in relation to financial and human resource planning and alignment, in accordance with existing research workplans and proposed projects. The Centre Manager also serves as a representative on national, provincial, and local committees and task forces. This position also manages the implementation of a social enterprise model and strives to diversify the Centre’s funding. The Centre Manager manages the development and implementation of the Centre’s business strategy.
**Qualifications**:
- Education:
- Undergraduate Degree; preferably in Business Management/Administration
- Completion or working towards Certified Human Resources Leader Designation
- Master’s Degree in a related field preferred
**Experience**:
- 5 years' administrative, human resources, and financial management experience in a complex office environment
- Experience supervising staff and projects
- Experience in a research or academic environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of financial budgeting and human resources principles and practices
- Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
- Verbal communication skills to translate information into easily understood terms, summarize information, and provide a rationale for action
- Ability to analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of detail/data, with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
- Results-oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual and team performance
- Customer service skills to understand customer needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community
- Ability to liaise with representatives from all levels of the Centre, the University, Government ministries and external organizations
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Computer skills with the ability to train others in system usage; advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to delegate work and provide team members with clear direction and support in meeting their objectives
- Organizational skills to manage multiple assignments that are accurate and thorough, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities
