**Culinary Director**
Catherine Place is an independent retirement residence located in the heart of St. Boniface. Marwest Management Canada Ltd. owns the property and is a local real estate development and management company with over fifty years of strong roots and deep commitments to the Winnipeg community. We are a team of professionals who are proud to deliver a unique combination of services to meet the needs of our tenants in a retirement community.
This is an exciting role and yours is to oversee and develop the culinary department including the dining space of the Retirement Residence. You are an organized, detail oriented, personable individual, with a keen ability to multitask and manage a great team of staff. You possess high level cooking skills, red seal certification and can train, direct and lead effectively to achieve success of excellent service and great tasting food. As the manager of the department, you will oversee the front and back of house operations to ensure your department is running smoothly and at a high-level standard. You either have a Red Seal Certification or are working towards attaining it. You will report to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve high quality food preparation, presentation and quality while delivering timing standards
- Planning and preparing creative menus each menu cycle
- Ordering, receiving and storage maintenance of all required food and stock supplies
- Maintaining proper food and kitchen, chemical and uniform inventory supplies
- Manage and track inventory purchases, values and food cost budgeting and other reports as needed
- Ensuring correct food safe handling and workers safety standard practices are achieved
- Meticulous cleanliness processes and upkeep of all areas of the culinary/dining service areas
- Maintain and coordinate maintenance of all kitchen equipment
- Hire, train and perform corrective action to new and existing staff members within department
- Offer support and mentorship to all culinary staff as needed
- Collaborate with the Sous Chef in developing department improvements and goals for further growth and success
- Hold and attend various department and management meetings
- Manage work schedules for culinary employees and maintain record keeping of working hours
- Maintain good working relationships with vendors
- Ensure proper cash handling management is maintained amongst staff
- Communicate and meet residents requests and needs
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by Executive Director

**Experience**:
- Cooking: 5 years (required)
