In partnership with the senior payroll accounting advisor, you will be responsible for payroll accounting activities including adjustments, posting, vendor remittances, supporting audits, and reporting requests. You will be involved in year-end, month-end, and quarterly processing to support payroll related finance inquiries. In this role, you will liaise with both finance and HR, acting as a conduit between both parties.

Minimum Requirements:
- Five years of experience in payroll accounting with thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with a strong preference for a CPA or CMA designation- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, with demonstrated advanced skills in excel- Deadline driven mindset with a strong commitment to completing work within established timelines- Demonstrated collaboration techniques working with stakeholders to achieve common goals

**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for accurately processing payroll settlements for Canadian and US payroll for each pay run, including posting to the general ledger and processing third-party payments- Support month-end activities as it relates to payroll and HR- Ensure all processes align to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) expectations- Participate in internal and external audits, by providing reporting, and supporting quarterly control requests from internal and external SOX auditors- Support year-end reporting requests and additional year-end requirements- Support remittances for pensions and savings, and reconciliations and remittances for third party vendors, workers compensation, and union dues

Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday- Depending on the nature of the role, we have implemented a Hybrid Work Model to provide our employees with a combination of office-based work and ‘work from home’ flexibility.
