Fibre Optic Technician/ Structured Wire

**The Opportunity**: The purpose of the **Fibre Optics/Structured Wire Technician** is to be part of a team of technicians installing fibre optic cables/structure wiring in various residential multi dwelling and business settings, both indoors and outdoors. **What You Will be Doing**: Installing and/or pulling in fibre optic/coax Installing raceway moulding, conduit, emt. Installing/removing temporary drop cables Terminating and testing Fibre Optic Cables Reading blueprints Ensure timely preparation and submission of various reports Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may have an impact on the work being performed. Participate in field level safety meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety informational awareness. Following regular vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and ensuring schedules are adhered. Ensure equipment appearance is maintained to Burton standards Other duties as required. **Qualifications**: What You Need to Succeed: Valid Drivers' License with clean driver's abstract. Must be able to pass criminal record check Strong mechanical aptitude (ability to work with your hands) and problem-solving abilities Willing to aggressively address problems; assume ownership of issues and provide solutions Self-directed and self-motivated, demonstrating a high level of professionalism, ethics, confidence and a commitment to a team approach. Ability to work with mínimal supervision. Ability to work efficiently and independently with strong attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills. Must set personal ethical standards at a high level and interact with others at equivalent levels within the organization in a manner that instills similar values Must be able to lift 50lbs **Nice to have**: Experience in a telecom or electrical installation environment Telecommunications / Electrical Engineering Technologist training (SAIST, Sask Polytechnic, NAIT, SAIT etc.) Experience using equipment such as bucket trucks, aerial lifts etc. Experience with ladder work (< 8m) Experience with splicing of Fibre Optic cables Additional safety training certifications. ie) ground disturbance, confined space, fall protection, etc. Certificate/Diploma in a Fibre Optics Field. Pre employment or apprenticeship in the Electrical Field. Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).
