The Safety Advisor manages all aspects of Health and Safety of facility personnel through managing established health and safety programs.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**:
These are intended only as illustration of the several types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

**Primary Health and Safety Tasks and Responsibilities**:
At least 70% of time is required to be spent in the production environment (millwork, paint shop, welding workshop, metal press) performing standard work consisting of items listed below (not an all-inclusive list):

- Workplace inspections (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Lead Risk Assessments, in conjunction with trained Supervisors, Managers or Health and Safety Committee members - New and Updating
- Safety Walks with Plant Leadership on a weekly cadence (at a minimum)
- Safety Walks - Safety Team on a bi-weekly cadence in conjunction with the Supervisors/Managers (at a minimum)
- Ensure Contractor Inspections are completed, in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager (ensure PPE is compliant, WSIB, liability insurance, hazard recognition and assessment in advance etc.)
- Review, update and audit safety focused Programs (TC Program based)
- Management of Change (PSR, machines, equipment purchase, work areas, etc.)
- Updating safety communications, and audit the contractor safety boards
- Managing employee's safety concerns
- Attend daily production meetings

At least 30% of time required for administrative tasks.
- Leads Safety Team (Agendas, Facilitate, Meeting Minutes, Corrective Action Completion)
- Ensures that local authorities, regulations, rules and codes, programs, and policies related to safety are observed. Including interfacing with authorities when required.
- Participates in the programs and policies corporate safety audit and follow up.
- Reviews and updates plant documents complying with TC Corporate programs and Health and Safety Policy Statement (annually).
- Ensures that accident/injury investigations are completed, causes of incidents are identified and preventive action steps are completed, and effective over time. Directly participates in accident investigations whenever feasible. Subsequently, compose and disseminate the Safety Alert accordingly with local Business Unit and shared companywide, in a timely manner.
- Ensures all safety documentation is maintained (ie: Policies, Procedures, SOPs etc.) and make them readily accessible and available to Supervisors/Managers/Leadership.
- In coordination with Human Resources, ensures that all required safety training is developed, scheduled, conducted and managed according to an established timeline. The position is not responsible for performing all the training but must ensure it is done.
- Assist Maintenance Manager in the development of Facility and Individual Safety Goals
- Responsible for Corporate Safety reporting - (Cority monthly hours, monthly trainings, safety action plan etc.)
- Read/understand all permits through our Resource productivity and recovery authority (RPRA)

**Decision making accountability**:

- Daily prioritization of work tasks, with the understanding that agreed upon deadlines should be met (decisions for which prior approval should be made).

**Working conditions**:

- This job operates in a professional and manufacturing environment, 24/7
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets as well as various testing equipment.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and unfrequently lift items up to 50 pounds (such as incident investigation, ergonomic assessment, risk assessment, physical demand analysis, first-aid)
- This position may have exposure to hazards such as dust, noise, and solvent or resin odors.
- Overtime and variable work schedules, including occasional nights and weekends, will be required.

Pay: $90,000.00 per year
