The Department of Labour and Immigration is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual interested in filling the Worker Advisor role in Winnipeg. Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post-secondary education in social sciences or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Experience analyzing and assessing large amounts of technical written material, such as correspondence, reports, opinions and statements
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to identify effective solutions to problems
- Effective written communication skills with the ability to present information and articulate ideas clearly to a variety of audiences
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to discuss and present information clearly and persuasively in formal and informal settings
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work various stakeholders, mediate conflict situations, and handle sensitive, highly-charged situations with tact and empathy
- Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple cases and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

**Duties**:
The Worker Advisor is appointed under Section 108 of The Workers’ Compensation Act and works independent of the Workers Compensation Board (WCB). The Worker Advisor role involves providing workers and dependants with assistance, advice, and representation on WCB claims and appeals. The incumbent is also tasked with assessing services, policies, and legislation by participating in committees to make recommendations for enhancing the Worker Advisor Office.
