**Purpose**:
York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) is one of North America's premier institutions for education and research across the arts. Reporting to the Operations Manager and directly supporting the Graduate Program Director (GPD), Music, the Graduate Program Assistant (GPA) provides administrative support to faculty and students. The GPA provides information on University, Faculty, unit and program policies, procedures, and regulations in a professional, client-focused manner. The GPA provides continuity, historical perspective, and transitional support to the GPD during their term appointments. The GPA contributes to a positive, supportive, student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.

**Education**:
High school graduation plus administrative training. some post-secondary courses in Arts, Media, Performance or Design would be an asset.

**Experience**:
Minimum 2 years recent related experience, including communicating with students at the graduate level (e.g. relaying information on a variety of matters related to academic programs, student academic records, enrolment, front-line public contact, etc.), in a student service area, preferably in a post-secondary environment.

**Skills**:
Demonstrated Skills including:
Effective oral communication skills to elicit, interpret and summarize information
Effective interpersonal skills. exercising tact, courtesy and discretion when dealing with others
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently, multi task while setting priorities and meeting deadlines
Exercising good judgment, initiative and problem solving
Working effectively as a member of a team to achieve and support unit/organizational goals and objectives
Making decisions with others and supporting outcomes
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Attending accurately to detail
Working effectively under pressure of high volume and frequent interruptions
Good written communication skills
Ability to take accurate minutesDemonstrated Technical Skills including:
Intermediate word-processing (i.e., MS Word).
Working knowledge of an on-line records system, including data entry and retrieval (i.e., Student Information System)
Intermediate computerized spreadsheet skills (i.e., MS Excel)
Web content management software (e.g., Wordpress)
Familiarity with ARMS (Academic Resource Management System) would be an asset
