Position Summary The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in creating and executing effective communication strategies to promote and enhance the organization's image, brand, and activities. The role places a strong emphasis on handling social media platforms and providing administrative support to ensure seamless internal and external communications. **Key Responsibilities** Social Media Management - Develop and execute social media strategies across various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn) to increase brand awareness and engagement. - Create, curate, and manage content, including writing, editing, and publishing posts, images and videos. - Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with followers to foster a positive community. - Analyze social media metrics and prepare reports to track the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies. - Execute paid advertising and boosting campaigns to drive growth. Content Creation - Draft and edit content for newsletters, press releases, and other communication materials. - Collaborate with graphic designers and other team members to produce visually appealing and cohesive marketing materials. - Ensure all content aligns with the organization's voice, style, and branding guidelines. Media Relations - Assist in managing relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers. - Support the coordination of interviews, press conferences, and media appearances for organizational spokespeople. Internal Communications - Support internal communication efforts to keep staff informed and engaged with organizational updates and initiatives. - Assist in preparing and distributing internal newsletters, announcements, and other communication materials. Administrative Support - Support the Communications Manager and team with scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing events. - Help plan and coordinate events, including logistics, vendor management and on-site support. - Assist in the creation of event materials such as agendas, programs, and promotional items. - Coordinate and execute special projects and campaigns. - Maintain organized records of communications activities, media contacts, and other relevant information. Other - May be requested to undertake other related duties as required. - Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. **Qualifications** Education Experience - 1-2 years of experience in communications, media, public relations, or related roles. - Prior experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organization is preferred. Abilities, Knowledge & Skills - Proficiency in modern productivity tools, social media management tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms.
