ContainerWest is looking for a computer and industrial savvy person to join our team as Materials Manager. The purpose of the role is to ensure the production floor has the materials required to build our portable steel buildings and enclosures. Production materials typically consist of building materials (lumber, insulation, sheeting), steel formings, structural steel, paint etc. Shop supplies are also critical and you would manage the purchasing and receiving of specialty items requested by Engineering or Maintenance. The “Manager” portion is really around managing the vendors --- availability and lead times, substitutions, delivery updates, finding new suppliers.

**CORE DUTIES**
- Work with Engineering to develop Bills of Materials and purchase lists for each job
- Effectively purchase the required items
- Maintain stock levels of inventoried materials and shop supplies
- Forecast demand to allow for increased order quantities and lower prices where appropriate
- Push for lead times that fit the production schedule
- Always look for value (quality, price, availability)
- Communicate purchasing progress back to Engineering and Manufacturing
- Continue developing our supplier network
- Support Estimating/Sales with up to date price lists and product research
- Support Maintenance with PO and purchasing support
- Support usage and improvement of the Epicor ERP system

**REQUIREMENTS**
- 2 year Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in an applied field
- Work experience in industrial admin/ops/inventory/purchasing
- Familiarity with any ERP, inventory or job tracking system an asset
- Purchasing or planning experience an asset
- Confident sharing and reviewing your work within the team. Comfortable with informal communication as well as traditional reports.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel spreadsheets
- Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluent in English
