**Position Profile**

The Black Business Initiative (BBI) is the longest serving Black business development initiative in Canada. We work to address the unique needs confronting Black businesses in Atlantic Canada and to build the community capacity of Black communities across Canada. Since its inception, our organization has grown to be a catalyst for job creation, equitable participation, and advancing economic prosperity across Canada.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator will play a key role in supporting BBI in effectively communicating its mission and engaging its stakeholders.

This is a term position with an end date of March 31, 2025.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Content Creation**_
- Develop content for a variety of channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and print materials, and formulate and implement innovative practices to engage stakeholders.
- **Content Calendar**_
- Develop and manage a content calendar to ensure regular and timely dissemination of information.
- Monitor and engage with the online community, responding to comments and messages.
- **Communications and Marketing Strategies**_
- Analyze social media metrics to optimize content and engagement strategies.
- Develop promotional materials and marketing strategies to promote events.
- Support the implementation of BBI’s Communications Strategy.
- **Reports & Campaigns **_
- Develop and update marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, and presentations.
- Assist in developing marketing campaigns to promote programs and initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports on communication and marketing efforts.

**Position Requirements**
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in content creation and social media management.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the experiences of Black businesses and communities in Canada, or willingness to learn.

Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
