**Position Purpose**:
The Specialist, Public Affairs & Government Relations is responsible for implementing the external relations strategy, identifying and working with target audiences and key stakeholders to enhance the visibility and reputation of Infoway through multiple channels as appropriate. This role involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing the delivery of multiple projects or initiatives to achieve specific business objectives.

The Specialist must proactively anticipate needs, plan accordingly, and navigate diverse interests and conflicting priorities typical of a multi-stakeholder environment. Critical thinking skills are essential, along with strong writing abilities to craft impactful messages that resonate with diverse audiences while aligning with Infoway's brand, values, and strategic priorities.

**Major Responsibilities**:
Under the direction of the Manager, Public Affairs and Operations, the Specialist has the following responsibilities:

- Provide updates on potential legislation and opportunities for Infoway.
- Monitor political trends, policy movements, and attend conferences or meetings to stay updated on emerging political issues.
- Identify potential opportunities and build support for Infoway connected care initiatives.
- Drafting outreach and thank-you letters and creating compelling materials to educate elected officials and other stakeholders.
- Maintaining relationships with committee organizers and preparing materials ahead of committee meetings, including notetaking/minutes.
- Collaborate with the Director, Communications & Public Relations to support communication strategies tailored to each jurisdiction's priorities. As part of this work, develop a semi-annual scan and tour plan to support regional outreach opportunities for Infoway and members of the executive leadership team.
- Coordinate meetings with government officials, stakeholders, and Health Canada, including scheduling, agenda development, and logistics coordination.
- Prepare and distribute documents, reports, and briefing materials for meetings, presentations, and submissions to Health Canada and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and oversee a list of government officials federally or across jurisdictions as it connects back to Infoway priorities.
- Report on challenges or issues faced by jurisdictions in implementing DHI goals.

**Education**:

- Undergraduate Degree in related field with preference in political science, public administration, communications, and/or stakeholder engagement.

**Qualifications**:

- 3-5 years experience working in government relations, public affairs, or a related field.
- Experience in developing public relations product and corporate communications products.
- Advanced writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop persuasive narratives to support insights, findings and recommendations.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in the MS Office suite and client management information databases
