**Child/Youth Worker Job Description**

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Child/ Youth Worker will:

- Promote and maintain a therapeutic environment for a diverse population of children and youth

experiencing a range of social, behavioural, and mental health difficulties
- Facilitates group activities in a classroom with youth i.e., games, art, music, teamwork exercise,

etc.
- Can assess youth's emotional needs and provide support when needed
- Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with

parents and other staff members
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for

parents, guardians or supervisor
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service

providers working with children
- Other duties as assigned

What you will bring
- Current enrollment/ Diploma in Child and Youth Worker Diploma or experience working in the same role
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively; both oral and written
- Self-motivated with the ability to function independently and as part of a team
- Valid vulnerable sector screening completed if applicable
- Completed TB Two-Step Tuberculin Skin testing (Mantoux Test)
