We have an excellent opportunity on our Western Region Business Development team, in Calgary. This role will be primarily responsible to drive all aspects of the business relationship (a holistic business consultant). He or she will also be accountable for helping brokers grow beyond just their relationship with Aviva; focus on profit management, strategic business opportunities and marketing campaigns for all lines of business under all Aviva Brands. This individual will be the trusted advocate of the broker and liaise with underwriting and claims to deliver solutions to issue as they arise. In addition, a strong pipeline management will be a necessary discipline to ensure delivery of annual business targets.

What you’ll do
- Ongoing performance management, including monitoring mix of business, new business support, LR and retention trends, and other key metrics
- Identify strategic opportunities with broker partners, including succession planning gaps, merger or acquisition potential, business planning, digital readiness and portfolio transfers
- Act as the single point of contact for a broker partner, coordinating and orchestrating internal and external resources as necessary
- Provide brokers with creative solutions to their business challenges, strengthening our partnerships
- Profit management through disciplined broker / portfolio management
- Provide brokers with insights into their portfolios to help them handle their business (and ours)
- Use analytics to identify trends, mix of business problems, LR issues, etc.
- Drive rehab processes where applicable
- Business planning and execution
- Develop plans with brokers that align with Aviva’s territorial and line of business objectives
- Identifying strategic opportunities
- Portfolio transfers that add profitable volume to a broker’s book of business
- Identify acquisition targets as well as consolidators
- Succession planning activities to fill any gaps
- Relationship management
- Build and strengthen relationship with principals, mid-managers, key producers, and frontline staff
- Drive sales and marketing activities
- Aligning to the business plan, help brokers to grow their portfolios with Aviva
- Develop solutions and find answers for their brokers by understanding their unique needs and providing expertise on how they can grow their business with Aviva.

What you’ll bring
- University - undergraduate degree CIP
- 8-10 years of related experience in the insurance industry
- Portfolio management and marketing experience
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
- Commercial Insurance knowledge
- Relationship management skills
- Customer and results focused
- Strong networking capabilities
- Very strong business management (business plans, marketing plans, metrics, understands business drivers) capabilities
- Advanced negotiation and Negotiation skills
- Strategic thinker
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
