Primary Focus
The Research Information Technician contributes to the mission, business, and product of Canada’s Drug Agency through information source retrieval and the management and stewardship of the agency’s library resources.
What do the daily responsibilities look like?
**On any given day, the Research Information Technician will**:

- function as an embedded project team member
- provide citation verification, document sourcing, and delivery services via a variety of methods, including interlibrary loans
- act as a steward of the agency’s library collection through managing the physical circulation system; cataloguing the materials (including copy and original cataloguing); managing the electronic serials; acquiring new materials, including books and newspapers; as well as processing invoices for subscriptions and purchases
- support the agency’s core business needs through providing additional library services, including media monitoring, research project and publishing support, permissions, and copyright support.

Is this the right role for you?
**The Research Information Technician will likely have**:

- a 2- or 3-year Library and Information Technician Diploma or Certification plus related work experience; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience of current interlibrary loan software (e.g., DOCLINE), practices, and resources
- basic searching skills and knowledge or awareness of the structure of biomedical and technical databases
- knowledge of and experience with searching and maintaining electronic serials management databases (e.g., EBSCO Full Text Finder)
- working knowledge of international standards of cataloguing and classification systems such as Resource Description and Access (RDA), as well as knowledge of indexing vocabularies, such as Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)
- knowledge of standard office software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook), with advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
- high attention to detail and precision
- excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deliverables
- the ability to work closely and collaborate with colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
