**Position Purpose and Summary**:
The Junior Learning Technology Specialist (JLTS) fulfills a support role to the Senior Learning Technology Specialist (SLTS) in enhancing the digital learning environment at Trinity Western University (TWU) through facilitating the integration and adoption of technology into teaching and learning practices. The JLTS helps support faculty, instructional designers, teaching assistants, students, and administrative staff; supports best practices in use of Learning Technology tools; and helps implement technology solutions related to teaching and learning and in support of TWU’s larger strategic initiatives.

**Key Areas of Accountability**

***Planning**
- Helps identify learning technology needs and solutions to deliver multi-access courses;
- Works with campus teams on digital initiatives related to technology integration;
- Applies knowledge of current educational and instructional theories, methodologies, techniques and principles to proactively support learning technology implementations.

**D**esign and Development**
- Helps to develop more efficient and seamless user experience for faculty and students by updating the look, feel and navigational experience within Moodle;
- Assists in the design, analysis and deployment of learning technologies to enhance teaching and learning;
- Works with TWU IT Software Developers to create or adapt open-source software to meet specific needs (e.g., creating or adapting plugins for WordPress, editing WordPress or Moodle themes, including CSS UI/UX enhancements);
- Provides solutions to technical problems through analyzing, modifying or creating source code in open-source software;
- Assist in piloting new technology with TWU IT, faculty and staff.

**Collaboration**
- Supports Instructional Designers in the development of online and blended courses through technical and software development support in the various digital learning environments;
- Works with the SLTS and a cross functional team to administer and maintain the TWU Digital Learning Environment (e.g., Moodie, Zoom, WordPress, Git, M365 Teams, etc.);
- Manages a ticketing support system in coordination with the TWU Service Hub to ensure highly responsive and professional support for learning technologies through documentation, training and SLA based support;
- Ensures timely and professional collaboration and communication with all stakeholders related to learning technology;
- Work with faculty to promote the use of technology to support and enhance teaching and learning practices at TWU;
- Collaborates with the Equity of Access office at TWU to support the development of a digital learning environment that is accessible and inclusive for all students and faculty.

**The Person**:
***Skills and Abilities
- Experience with APls (SOAP, REST) and Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) to connect various third-party software with TWU's Learning Management System - Moodle;
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript;
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and solve technological problems, designing and maintaining scalable systems;
- Ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously;
- Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant stakeholders;
- Able to work independently with limited direction, while maintaining; collaborative work relationships;
- Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service.

**Standards & Requirements**:
**Education**:Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business Information Systems, Computing Science, Computer Human Interface Design, Educational Technology or a relevant discipline is required.

**Experience**:

- 3-5 years' experience in developing and supporting technology solutions in a customer-focused environment;
- Experience in higher education or non-profit
