We've hiring a full-time Night Desk. The hours are late evening 11pm to 7am, 5 nights a week.

Our ideal applicant will have previous international travel with stays in hostels, a passion for the 'hostel experience', and helping international guests learn about and love Vancouver. But if you don't have that, a great smile, true enthusiasm and interest in the service industry works for us. A flexible schedule, as work hours can vary, is a must.

The successful applicant will have the ability to be pro-active and self-manage and can be friendly even in sometimes busy situations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES include**:

- Check-in and check-out guests to the hostel.
- Manage guest luggage services.
- Assist with guest inquiries.
- Handle cash and card payments.
- Provide great customer service with a smile.
- Maintain a clean, secure and welcoming environment to individuals of all flavors.
- Embrace the company attitude and work to make each guest's stay memorable.
- Handle guest luggage.
- Monitor hostel security, checking guest keys every time a guest enters.
- Handle guest inquiries and issues. Be resourceful and be able to find the answers for guests when they do not know the answers themselves.
- Provide advice on what to do, where to eat, give directions, etc.
- Handle over night housekeeping duties.
- Extra duties that may be assigned by the Manager or Assistant Managers.

**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE**:

- Previous work in the service industry, especially in hospitality.
- Previous stays in hostels.
- Authorized to work in Canada.
- Bilingual a plus and English proficiency required
- travel experience.
- Knowledge of Vancouver and the surrounding area.

**HOURS**:
You must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**:

- Starting hourly wage is $18.
- Time and a half on certain holidays.
- 40% off on food and drinks in our bar and restaurant.
- Free and/or discounted stays in our other locations in Kelowna, Banff, Montreal, Toronto, Venice Beach, Ocean Beach, San Francisco, Hollywood and New Orleans.
