Safety Coordinator/ Lead Hand

**ABOUT US**:
**WHAT YOU DO**:
We are currently seeking a **Safety Coordinator/ Lead Hand **to work at one of our project sites - Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC. **This is an hourly, full-time permanent position with benefits.**
**Responsibilities**:
- Create and implement WorkSafeBC-compliant safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily.
- Conduct, worker safety reviews, Site Trade & Visitor Orientations as required.
- Conduct site safety inspections and submit paperwork electronically to head office.
- Do a hazard analysis, if required, and review it with the site superintendent.
- Review trades’ safe work practices, lift plans, site-specific fall protection plans, hot work permits, SDS data, and any other necessary documentation required for safe task execution.
- Perform head counts at the beginning and end of the shift(s).
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
- Ability to perform site safety improvements using small power tools.
- Collect and act upon trades and workers’ safety concerns as soon as they are raised.
- Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks.
- Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies.
- Perform site walkthrough at the end of the day & ensure all trades have left and have filled out first aid acknowledgments for the day. Close-up site.
**Who You Are**:
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a site safety coordinator.
- Minimum 2 years of carpentry experience or relevant experience with tools.
- Registration as a Certified Safety Professional or similar form of licensure as a safety officer.
- Understanding of federal, state, and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
- Good understanding of construction principles and procedures.
- Ability to perform small carpentry tasks as required by Site Superintendent.
- Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback.
- Construction site equipment tickets are an asset.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
