**WINDOW PATCH MACHINE OPERATOR (Cello Machine)**

**REPORTS TO**

**Production Supervisor**

**JOB SUMMARY**

Sets up, operates and feeds carton window equipment to glue and secure cello material in the manufacture of folding cartons for the purpose of a windowed carton.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB**

Completion of high school with core skills in Mathematics and English language.

Minimum 3 years experience setting up and operating complex manufacturing equipment, preferably in the printing/folding carton industry.

Mechanical aptitude to analyze and trouble shoot machinery and process issues combined with manual dexterity to use tooling and undertake precise adjustments to machinery.

Interpersonal skills to work co-operatively as part of a team.

Able to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.

Keen visual inspection skills to detect quality defects.

Basic knowledge of computers to be able to learn/use custom software programs.

**RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMING THE JOB**
- Reads and understands docket instructions and specifications, seeking clarification and guidance if/as necessary.
- Locates appropriate job and loads into the feeding end.
- Retrieves applicable materials needed for the job run, checking for damage or issues.
- Sets ups, operates, feeds and runs the equipment in keeping with required specifications and requirements.
- Ensures a high quality product is consistently and efficiently produced, minimizing waste.
- Undertakes in-process inspections at required intervals making fine-tune adjustments to equipment as necessary.
- Reports quality issues and non-conformances to Quality and/or the Production Supervisor.
- Data enters production data into Amtech in a timely manner ensuring accuracy.
- Completes docket and department related paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- For pharmaceutical job runs, prevents de-segregations from occurring by purging the feed and delivery ends as well as all areas in/around the equipment of product at the end of each job run.
- Takes pharmaceutical waste to the guillotine for destruction upon completion of each job and before beginning the next job run.
- Undertakes routine troubleshooting and maintenance of machinery documenting accordingly.
- Responsible for adhering to housekeeping practices.
- Must follow GMP, Quality, and Health & Safety operating procedures.
- Responsible for other duties as required.

**MENTAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB**

Mental attentiveness required during make ready process to ensure quality. Process of running machine after set up is a repetitive function that requires frequent inspections to ensure quality.

**PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB**

Physical capacity to stand for extended periods combined with bending and reaching. Occasional walking for short distances. Lifting up to 50 lbs (assisted as needed/for greater amounts) and pushing/pulling up to 500 to 1,000lbs with the use of a pump truck. Periods of time spent operating machine control panels requiring finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

**WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB**

Works within established guidelines in an environment that has continuous noise from production machinery. Moderate exposure to paper dust, as well as, water-based and solvent-based adhesives. Operates complex and potentially dangerous machinery.
