Gore Mutual is looking for an energetic and dynamic people leader capable of breaking the mold and challenging the status quo. As we push forward with our ambitious growth strategy, we are looking for an inspiring Underwriting Operations Manager that will foster the continued growth and development of our talented underwriting team while also leading the delivery of fast and frictionless service to our broker partners.

This role will lead the execution of the underwriting operations strategy while providing inspirational people leadership for the Team Leaders and their Underwriting teams. The role is also responsible to ensure broker and customer expectations are met in a timely and professional manner while balancing against organizational priorities and regulatory compliance.

What will you do?
- Review risks presented in alignment with the assigned underwriting authority and in accordance with our published rules and rates.
- Review underwriting processes and drive continuous improvements to workflow while managing profitability.
- Manage staffing issues and escalations through the Team Leaders while ensuring appropriate training and development for all staff.
- Provide leadership to Team Leaders regarding underwriting and claims escalations.
- Report on capacity management to the leadership team, advising on any risks and efficient resource utilization.
- Manage and streamline the workflow for the team and determine which client service team new and existing business should be placed based on volume of clients.
- Lead the strategy of implementing processes that will lead to increased efficiency and higher productivity.
- Challenges the status quo by thinking out of the box and taking educated risks to improve team results.
- Implement and participate in the development of tactical business planning to support underwriting decisions which are consistent with achieving business goals.
- Manage account support activities to meet production goals; assure compliance and performance standards are achieved; provide management information as necessary; and utilize all available resources in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage work duties as assigned in a fast paced, results driven team ensuring service standards for the department are met and/or exceeded.

What will you need to succeed?
- Minimum 5 years experience in property & casualty insurance underwriting experience
- At least 3 years of leadership experience
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to take initiatives and manage relationships.
- An undergraduate degree or diploma from a community college in Insurance related areas (CIP)
