Assistant Manager

Under the direction of the Retail Manager, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the daily operations for the entire retail location. In addition to managing the fertilizer plant and directing work for the operations team, the assistant manager will play a large role in developing new business as well as maintaining the existing customer base. This role requires a driven individual willing to work in all area of the business and adapt to many different situations.
**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Assist with the coordination of ordering and administration of fertilizer, seed, and crop production products within Company Policy
- Use and knowledge of logistics, inventory and account management
- Motivated sales professional with the ability to increase sales and market share in crop protection products, fertilizer, seed and specialty products
- In conjunction with the Retail Manager, oversee external operations including facility equipment maintenance, and assist with internal operations of the retail location including client billing and product costing
- Work with all areas of the business location to ensure a professional customer experience in an accurate and timely fashion while building customer relationships
- Maintenance of location to ensure the yard and equipment meets company standards
- Day to day operation and maintenance of the dry fertilizer blending facility and chemical shed
- Create and maintain the highest value to the customer by differentiating yourself and The Rack
- Location and Customer Administration
- Other duties as assigned
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Preference will be given to anyone with a degree or diploma in the area of Agricultural Science or Management
- Minimum 2 years experience in Agriculture or Agriculture sales, with a diverse portfolio of experience, primarily in the commercial market
- Experience in facility and equipment operations and maintenance
**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, exceptional communication skills
- Mechanically inclined to diagnose equipment issues and carry out minor repairs
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to employ common sense to execute tasks practically and efficiently
- Effective decision making and time management skills related to ordering chemical and fertilizer, in addition to logistics
- Ability to work collaboratively n+ with customers, retail team and logistics team
- Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite
- Technical understanding of the agricultural support industry and ability to identify customer existing and ongoing needs
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to increase market share and achieve location goals
- Familiar with The Rack as a company along with products/services available
- Must live in or near the town of Plenty SK
