Wholesale distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables - seeking a full-time purchasing assistant in the Scarborough, ON.
- Must be able to work in a cold environment. Casual and comfortable dress code - dress to keep warm.
- Full Time: 6 days per week (Sunday through Friday)
- Start Time: 4:00pm to 12:00pm Monday to Friday / 6:00am to 10:00am Sunday
- Note: Hours of work may vary day to day depending on the work load
- Location: Scarborough (Lawrence & Midland)
- Start: Immediately

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the purchasing of fresh fruits and vegetables, including sourcing, placing orders, quality checks, loading the truck at the market
- Upon return to the warehouse, orders are to be unloaded, inspected, and rotated into inventory (FIFO)
- Warehouse tasks may include organizing and cleaning as needed
- Assist with supplier management, including dealing with product returns
- Physical requirements include having the ability to lift 50 lbs regularily.
- Note: This position does NOT require any office work.

**Requirements**:

- Experience as a Purchasing Assistant or in a similar role is a plus but not required
- G Licence (experience driving a 5 ton truck is an asset)
- Familiarity with inventory control procedures and techniques
- Excellent communication and skills
- Flexible to changing work conditions and tasks
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
