**Position**: Theatre in Education Instructor

**Organization**: Magnus Theatre

**Primary Responsibilities**: The Theatre in Education Instructor will work under the supervision of the Theatre in Education Director and the Artistic Director. They will plan and teach theatre classes for students aged 5 - 12, and act as an ambassador of Magnus Theatre to the community. Tasks and responsibilities may be variable, but include the following:

- Deliver age-appropriate class content.
- Lead class activities and teach new skills.
- Maintain a clean and tidy workspace.
- Assist with the creation and direction of a final showcase for family and friends.
- Find ways to engage children and encourage hands-on learning; keep students on task and actively learning.
- Create a nourishing environment that fosters creative learning.
- Ensure health and safety practices are being followed, and that students are supervised at all times.

**Core Requirements**:

- Professional and experienced educator, actor or director.
- Must be available Saturday mornings.
- Experience working with young people, especially those aged 5 through 12.
- Some teaching experience, including ability to learn various types of information and then translate it into teachable material.
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and energetic.
- Ability to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Works well independently.

**Note**: This position includes working with vulnerable people and therefore a successful Vulnerable Sector Check will be required. First Aid and CPR training is an asset.

**Compensation**: $18.00/hour for an average of five (5) hours a week

**Start date and term**: January 11, 2025

**Hours Available**: Saturday Mornings - 9:30AM - 1:30PM
