**Job Summary**
Vela Canada is assisting in the search for anexceptional, **Part-time**, **Community Support Worker** to support two delightful young men located in **North Vancouver**during **Monday**, **Tuesday**, **Thursday**, **Friday** & **Saturday** Mornings and Afternoons. This position aims to provide individual-centered assistance to help maintain their independence while achieving their personal goals. As their community support worker, you will be performing the following duties and responsibilities.
- Supporting and transporting individual to social or recreational activities
- Adapting and rescheduling individuals day accordance to behavioural/mood changes
- Consistently ensuring a safe and positive environment for the individual
- Assisting individual with employment duties
- Identify social, economic, recreational, physical, and educational programs/services to assist the individual achieve personal goal and develop relationships within the community
- Accompanies and/or individual medical appointments, recreational, social and leisure activities
- Observing and reporting any changes in the individual's condition or behaviour to the Microboard
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care activities and observations
- Other assigned duties by Microboard

**Qualifications**
Education & Experience Requirements
- Preferred: HCA Certificate Long Term Care Aid Certificate or equivalent experience
- Community Support Worker Certificate/Long Term Care Aid Certificate or equivalent experience
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual, behavioral, and physical challenges
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to efficiently move and transfer individuals with a reliable van
**Skills, Abilities & Knowledge**
- Knowledgeable of the local community, activities, and events
- Ability to support individuals who communicate through behavioral and physically means in a dignified manner
- Strong rapport building/relational skills, that includes respectful interactions
- with youth, caregivers, school, and community
- Ability to perform basic household duties: as part of life skills training with
- youth - cleaning, chores, laundry, meals, outdoor chores
- Ability to the work as team player with family, friends, and Microboard members
- Empathy, patience and a compassionate approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of client confidentiality and privacy
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Basic computer literacy
**Special Requirements**
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including criminal record check) or be willing to obtain on
- Valid driver’s abstract from ICBC
- Reliable vehicle
- Completed and signed Medical Consent Form
**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: Up to 30 per week
