Job Summary:

In consultation with the Program Manager the Community Support Worker provides life skills training and support services for clients regarding issues such as personal care and other aspects of daily living, access to community leisure programs, housekeeping duties, planning and preparing meals, booking medical appointments and organizing and supporting a client to follow through with a weekly schedule with one or more brain injured clients living in the community. The Support Worker empowers the client(s) to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support and intervention where necessary

Qualifications:

Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population

  • Current certification and documents in the following areas: emergency first aid or equivalent, CPR level A.
  • Relevant post secondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • The use of a personal vehicle to drive clients to appointments and other outings.
  • Class 5 BC Drivers License

Schedule:

  • Client Sessions are typically between hours, Mon - Fri, and booked between 8 am - 6 pm.
  • The casual Community Support Worker will provide sick and vacation coverage for permanent staff, and may at times be assigned 1 or more consistent client session, however, there are no guaranteed weekly hours.

The successful applicant for this position will be required to provide the following documentation:

  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License (Class 5 learners, Class 7, and International Drivers Licenses are not acceptable)
  • An acceptable 5 year Driving History Report from ICBC
  • Proof of a recent Negative Tuberculosis Test
  • A Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate with CPR Level A
  • Proof of any related Diplomas, or other Education Certificates
  • The Contact Information for at least 3 employment references

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $27.92 per hour
