Role Description

The Community Health Worker (CHW) provides essential personal care, companionship, and home support services to clients in their homes within the Vancouver Coastal Health region. This role is pivotal in promoting client independence, safety, and overall well-being as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary care team.

Qualifications

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Qualifications (Mandatory)

Candidates must meet the following regulatory requirements to be considered:

* Registration: Current and Active registration with the B.C. Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry (BCCAHWR). Proof of registration status is required.

* Education: Successful graduation from a recognised and accredited Health Care Assistant (HCA) Program in British Columbia, or a recognised equivalent.

* First Aid/CPR: Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

* Food Safety: Current BC FOODSAFE Certificate Level 1.

* Screening: Satisfactory outcome of a recent Criminal Record Check (CRC) as per the BC Criminal Records Review Program, suitable for working with vulnerable adults.


Skills and Experience

* Minimum of 6 months of professional experience in a community or facility-based health care role is highly preferred.

* Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

* Proven ability to work independently, manage a flexible schedule, and prioritise workload effectively.

* Demonstrated knowledge of client-centred care and ability to maintain a compassionate, respectful, and professional demeanour.
