Scrap Burner/torch Cutter

**Summary**:
Working at our location in Port Alberni, the Burner (Torch Cutter) will be responsible for processing, moving, sorting, cutting, and packaging pieces of scrap metal for transport. Experience working in a labourer environment running a torch/plasma cutter is considered an asset. This role offers a Monday to Friday shift, working 8 hour days.

**What the role will be doing**:
This position will be responsible for/work with
- Burner/Torch cutter will be required to Torch\cut ferrous material into proper shipping dimensions.
- Work will be performed out doors in all seasons (extreme cold, extreme heat) dependent.
- Keeps work area clean
- Observes and reports any safety issues
- Other duties may be assigned

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- 2-3 years Welding or Burner (Torch Cutter) experience
- Previous experience in burning scrap metal
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Can work well as a team member or independently with little direction
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Strong detail orientation
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Ability to operate an Oxy-Propane cutting torch, cut steel and different types of metal when necessary
- Set up and maintain the operation of oxygen tanks and gauges
- Conduct daily equipment checks
- Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
- Follow operating standards and procedures
- Operate two-way radios and other communication when required
