Job DescriptionYWCA Crabtree Corner Transitional Housing, with 12 units of self-contained housing, serving women who are in recovery and are pregnant or have recently given birth or are working towards regaining custody of their children.
The New Beginnings Support Worker supports Crabtree Corner residents with the move in / out processes and provides new mothers with supports.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Supporting new residents to settle into Crabtree Housing, including unpacking, childminding, cooking etc.
- Supporting residents to prepare for move outs, including packing, cleaning, childminding.
- Providing new mothers with assistance in the first month after childbirth including childminding, cooking, cleaning etc.
- Other duties as required
**What you’ll need**:
- Minimum educational requirement: or a combination of work/lived experience;
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- A trauma informed approach;
- An understanding of harm reduction;
- Knowledge of issues impacting women and families living in and around the DTES
- Understanding of issues impacting Indigenous women and families and sensitive to the issues of Indigenous families and issues of families living in poverty
- Good de-escalation skills;
- Healthy boundaries;
- Experience with childminding;
- Able to cook basic, healthy meals;
- Motivated to work independently and as part of a team;
- Willingness to use Microsoft Word, Safetyline, Relias, ADP Workforce Now;
- A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

**Pay Rate: $28.05 + 12% in lieu of time off and benefits**
