This is a part time evening position

Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Personal Support Worker certificate course.

The BSO PSW works under the direction of the Manager of Cognitive Care to practically assess and implement interventions and care strategies on the houses with a focus on the care of the residents with predictable, responsive behaviours. The role is involved in performing interventions directly with residents, and primarily works on the houses helping frontline staff with methods to assist with responsive behaviours.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
As directed by the MOCC be visible and present on the houses to coach and assist staff with pre-determined

or spontaneous interventions based on the BSO caseload and care initiatives
- Proactively assist on each unit to help with programs, spontaneous interventions, feeding, etc. that helps

handle responsive behaviours based on BSO principles and best practices
- Observe and assist with assessments where applicable in order to determine a course of action and

interventions that are person-centred and based on best BSO practices
- Collaborate well with a multi-disciplinary team to gain current and specialized information regarding each

resident, care approaches, and possible available resources
- Mentor and model approaches used in one-to-one coaching, as well as teach large group sessions on topics

such as Teepa Snow, Gentle Persuasion Approach (GPA), and other applicable methods.
- Document appropriate resident information in accordance with BSO requirements
- Distribute educational information provided by the Manager of Cognitive Care regarding a variety of interventions including behavioural patterns, timing, and individual interventions as well as caregiver support (How to Have a Meaningful Visit) - Work with the MOCC to identify areas of need for staff training and develop in the area of behavioural care and intervention methods
- Collaborate with the BSO team regarding observation and modeling to determine approaches, and intervene in moments where staff may be defiant or uncooperative in order to assist with guiding staff for success
- Report any issues or concerns with staff behaviours regarding BSO interventions and interactions to the MOCC
- Submit data in accordance with Trinity Village policies to the MOCC regarding resident information and other relevant data for accurate CQI
- Attend care conferences as required to provide input regarding specific resident needs and situations.
- If new residents have documented behaviours, help determine and communicate a plan with appropriate care providers for a smooth transition into the home. Collaborate with the MOCC to assist with visits to new residents on the BSO caseload and touch base with the family and to answer questions and help transition the resident well, as required - Help prepare an intervention sheet and huddle with frontline staff regarding new residents on the BSO caseload that will be moving into their care
- Actively participate in team meetings, organizational objectives, committees, and special events
- Remain compliant to all legislative bodies as required by Trinity Village/LHKW, and report as required - Be familiar with and adhere to the Resident’s Bill of Rights as dictated by the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act
- Maintain professional standards and certification as required for the role of BSO PSW through continuing education and professional development - Twice a month, actively participate in BSO committee meetings
- Complete all mandatory training as assigned - Actively participate in the Regional Level BSO Foundations
- Other duties as assigned
