Maintenance Support

Maintenance Support personnel assist Yard & Building Maintenance personnel with outdoor related duties such as lawn maintenance, planting and maintenance of flowerbeds and hedges, sweeping walkways, and other outdoor maintenance duties as needed. When the weather is such that outdoor work is not possible, the individual will assist with various janitorial and building maintenance duties.

**Job Requirements**:

- Full-time students attending university or college are preferred
- Ability to learn and operate small equipment (zero turn mover, chainsaw, weed trimmer, tiller and backpack sprayers)
- Mechanical and mathematical aptitude
- Ability to lift heavy loads and perform strenuous physical labour
- Able to work independently and as a functioning member of a team
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to read and understand written work instructions
- Ability to complete daily activities according work schedule
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic computer skills
- Problem-solving capabilities
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Valid driver's license

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Summer grounds keeping at all Friesens facilities located in Altona, including not but limited to:

- Cut grass
- Weed gardens
- Trim hedges
- Plant flowers
- Weed control
- Clean maintenance area and company vehicles as needed
- Assist the baler room staff during peak production periods and cover holiday time for the baler staff if needed
- Assist with various after-hour company events such as company picnic set-up and parade participation
- Run pick-up errands to local vendors/suppliers
- Assist with scheduled maintenance routines
- Painting projects
- Parking lot maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
