United Scaffold Supply Company Inc. is seeking a **Certified Safety Officer (CSO)** with **practical scaffolding knowledge**to support our operations through a unique hybrid role that combines **job site reconnaissance** and **safety compliance oversight**.
This position is ideal for a safety-certified professional who is not looking to build or erect scaffold, but who is confident in **evaluating job sites, identifying scaffold needs, measuring site parameters**, and communicating effectively with field supervisors and estimators. The role also requires a solid command of **WorkSafeBC regulations, COR procedures, SiteDocs**, and a proactive, boots-on-the-ground presence to maintain safety culture at the forefront of our operations.
**Primary Responsibilities**:Safety Officer Duties**:
- Conduct safety orientations and CORE intakes for workers and subcontractors
- Lead daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Enforce WorkSafeBC regulations and internal safety protocols
- Perform and document site safety inspections via **SiteDocs**:
- Investigate and report incidents, near-misses, and non-compliance
- Ensure emergency response plans are site-appropriate and up to date
- Support subcontractor safety integration and participation
**Scaffold Reconnaissance Duties**:
- Visit upcoming project sites to assess scaffold access, environment, and elevation
- Take detailed **field measurements** to support accurate in-house estimating
- Identify logístical constraints and hazard zones that impact scaffold installation
- Communicate site-specific insights to project managers, estimators, and field leads
- Maintain awareness of scaffold system types and configurations
- Speak fluently with scaffold foremen and crew to ensure field-to-office accuracy
**Qualifications**:Mandatory Safety Credentials**:
- Valid CSO or NCSO certification (BCCSA or equivalent)
- 2+ years of active field safety experience
- Proficient with SiteDocs or other safety documentation platforms
- Familiar with COR systems and WorkSafeBC compliance frameworks
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (clean abstract)
**Scaffold Knowledge**:
- Experience in scaffold industry, able to preform job site prep, hazard assessment, or supervisionHands-on familiarity with scaffold layouts, deck levels, and access principles
- Able to use measuring tools (e.g., laser, tape) and assess anchor points, obstructions
- Previous work as a scaffolder or supervisor (without expectation of current erection duties) is an asset
Pay: $38.00-$48.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
