McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a **Controller, Finance Operations **in our **Finance group.** We are presently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possess a strong sense of ownership and has great leadership qualities. Reporting to the National Director of Finance, you will play a key role in overseeing a team of 35+, which includes our Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Collections, Billing, Client Life Cycle and Trust department nationally. This position will ensure the team delivers high quality and timely services to the Firm.

**What You’ll Do**

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage day-to-day and overall function of all Finance Operations activities nationally including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Collections, Client Life Cycle, Billing and Trust
- Ensure successful month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare various financial reports for Management Team
- Oversee the completion and distribution of T5 and RL3’s
- Oversee the CDIC and Annual Reporting to Law Societies
- Preparation of AFDA analysis on a quarterly basis for the Management Team
- Oversee the Departing lawyer Protocol on behalf of the Finance department
- Review AP and Trust payments to ensure accuracy, validity and proper authorization
- Maintain strong dynamic controls and processes for all Finance workflows to minimize exposure to fraud
- Review WIP and AR to ensure timely billing and collection
- Provide leadership, guidance, training and development to the Finance team
- Ensure financial controls are designed appropriately and operating effectively
- Ensure compliance with ASPE, Law Societies rules and regulations and CRA
- Develop and document business processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Implement processes to enhance data integrity
- Work closely with Partners to provide financial status information and suggestions
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, pursuing opportunities to improve process efficiency through automation and new technology
- Perform an additional duties and projects assigned
- Other responsibilities as required

**Required Experience & Education**

University degree in accounting or finance

Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CPA or CGA)

Prior experience in similar management role

Strong communication and presentation skills
