The Opportunity:
We're looking for an Assistant Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and enjoys supporting multiple businesses at different stages of growth. In this role, you'll deliver high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and operational support while contributing to process improvements and mentoring team members.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare, review, and publish timely monthly financial statements for multiple clients
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with clear insights and recommendations
- Coordinate audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal controls and external requirements
- Manage client communications in alignment with Controllers and Fractional CFOs
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, controls, and workflows
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and collaborate with accountants on client engagements
- Support onboarding and training of onshore and offshore team members
- Facilitate daily offshore huddles and provide ongoing mentorship
- Partner on process improvements and participate in hiring and performance reviews
- Support team engagement initiatives and meeting documentation
- Support AP/AR processes, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance
- Assist with tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
- CPA designation preferred
- 3+ years of experience in progressively responsible leadership roles in Finance
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial analysis skills
- Confidence working directly with clients in a professional advisory capacity
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort working with cloud-based accounting systems
- Experience working with non-profit organizations, public sector entities, or similarly regulated organizations is an asset
