The Construction Manager - Solar is responsible for directing, planning, and managing solar EPC project(s) full time, on-site. Project goals are to be reviewed and implemented in the field for the project to be completed ahead of schedule, within budget and in compliance with Company safety policies and operating processes. Competency in the areas of leadership, communication, planning, and management of change are key to the project success.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:
**Leadership & Communication**
- Provide day to day direction and oversight of construction resources (staff, contractors, equip., materials)
- Assure project abides by all environmental safety awareness and compliance
- Support and further the company culture, values, and quality management
- Document and communicate construction progress and performance and issues to all stakeholders
**Planning & Scope Management**
- Successfully integrate resources, activities, and deliverables as outlined in the Construction Plan
- Own the construction budget, cost, quality, and schedule
- Keep the Project Manager and Construction Superintendents informed of the overall progress & performance along with monitoring and review of the construction key performance indicators
- Provide input to constructability reviews and ensure optimum contractor involvement
**Overall Duties**
- Monitor and oversee construction activities and personnel to properly deliver the following project trades:
- Civil Works, Roads
- Foundations, Concrete
- PV Modules and Racking System
- Collection System
- Substation
- Others (MET Towers, Facilities, O&M Bldg, etc.)
- Oversee all construction contracts within area of responsibility, supported by Site Teams at each geographic location or system-based area of responsibility
- Cooperate with all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times
- Manage the construction package elements of the procurement process
- Monitor contract performance against project milestones, budget and other established metrics
- Project scope definition and management, development of project-specific construction plans
- Provide leadership to workforce planning, hiring, and developing the project team members, maximizing their potential to meet business needs and alignment to MasTec’s Core Values
- Coordination and communication of construction RFIs
**EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience - preference given to those with Canadian accredited Professional Engineering license

- Possess strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Work well under pressure, and ability to meet timelines and deadlines
- Work well independently and with a team
- Maintain a positive attitude while working with MasTec Canada’s team members and customers
- Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts legal documents, or governmental regulations
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, engineers, customers, and top management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Primavera, and construction management software
