**The opportunity**:
EfficiencyOne is looking for an** **Energy Manager (EM)** who will be responsible for developing and implementing an energy management plan for the** Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency.** The EM will provide technical support to the sector, which will involve visits to industry locations as well as working with their respective facilities staff, engineering, production departments, and management to promote energy efficiency.
- Responsible for energy management planning, as well as assisting with the implementation of energy efficiency projects and influencing policy.
- Responsible for utilizing available building data and energy benchmarking data to track energy usage and identify energy savings opportunities.
- Responsible for supporting new research around energy efficiency and developing and implementing the organization’s Energy Management Strategy.
- Responsible for completing technical audits, evaluating energy efficiency technologies, performing feasibility studies, and preparing project business cases.
- Responsible for recommending projects, measures, and incentive programs to clients.
- Develop an understanding of the mechanical and electrical systems within client facilities.
- Develop an understanding of the organization’s budgetary framework and procurement policies related to energy management.
- Act as project manager for all energy-related capital projects, including liaison to energy service consultants.
- Development and review of energy efficiency project procurement.
- Reporting and presentations as required by the Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency and EfficiencyOne, outlining project status, energy management opportunities, and achievements to date.
- Perform any other duties as required from time to time.
***What Will Help You Succeed?**

- Diploma in Energy Sustainability Engineering Technologist (ESET), or Bachelor of Engineering, and eligible to practice as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a related role, professional engineering, or a certified engineering technologist license would be considered an asset.
- Practical knowledge of commercial building systems and utilities.
- The ability to interpret electrical and mechanical plans and specifications for facilities.
- Excellent analytical skills and written and oral communication skills; thrive in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment where problem-solving skills help meet tight deadlines.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
**What to expect in your first several weeks on the job**:

- Meet with the Senior EM and Energy Management Services team.
- Develop a high-level plan for the first 90 days in your role as an EM: and
- Be prepared to read EM service manual, business program manuals, protocols on measurement and verification, energy auditing guidelines, example reports from Senior EMs, and examples of other organizations’ energy management plans. Ensuring you are familiar with both technical resources and reference material is critical to executing your short-term plan on-site.

- Become familiar with the people and organizations within the participant organizations. Organizational awareness includes understanding people who influence projects and are familiar with the facilities and the processes, i.e., procurement, budget planning, etc.
