**The Role**

The Lead Vineyard Hand working at SKYE CHASE Estate Winery works primarily with the land, outdoors for most of the day. This position assists the Vineyard Manager with vineyard maintenance and machinery operations while working with a team to ensure the vineyard is producing the highest quality fruit. The Lead Vineyard Hand assists the Vineyard Manager and the winemaking team to produce high-quality wine. Daily tasks involve physically tending to the vineyard, ensuring that the plants are healthy and the fruit is of the highest caliber.

**What You Will Be Doing**
- Assisting the Vineyard Manager with pruning, tying and managing the canopy of the vines.
- Assist with planting, cultivating and/or harvesting grapes.
- Assisting with the vineyard canopy to permit light and air circulation.
- General on-going vineyard maintenance activities include but are not limited to weed control and trellis installation and repair, installing and maintaining bird netting, as directed by the Vineyard Manager.
- Assisting with general property maintenance and presentation including but not limited to mowing, cutting and weeding.
- Performing ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks.
- Assisting/moving harvested fruit from field to processing area.
- Assisting with farm building/field maintenance and repairs.
- Adhering to all health and safety programs for the vineyard and winery.
- Maintaining good working order and cleanliness of all equipment.
- Wearing assigned personal protective equipment when required.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

**What We Are Looking For**
- High school diploma.
- Agriculture equipment operation experience an asset.
- Forklift certification an asset.
- Able to organize and prioritize.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to follow and fulfill instructions accurately.
- Strong knowledge of safety preferably with viticulture equipment operation and maintenance.
- Able to lift 25kg.
- Must be able to work alone, and unsupervised for periods of time.
- Available to work extended hours (weekend and holidays) during peak season or with other tasks that require immediate attention.
- Able to work in poor weather conditions - outdoors for extended periods of time.
- Strong team player.
