**General Description**:
The Diamond Bailey Healing Centre (DBHC) is a new facility developed and operated by the MNFC and is a response to the need within the Urban Indigenous Community for an Indigenous-led, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate facility where members of the urban Indigenous community can receive healing programming in addition to stable housing that is imbedded in Indigenous tradition and culture in all aspects of program delivery. The DBHC will provide clients with teachings and resources necessary to heal, live a balanced lifestyle - according to the principals of the medicine wheel, and to ultimately gain housing stability.
DBHC is looking for one (1) Diamond Bailey Life Skills Coordinator who will work with all clients to enhance skills and knowledge that are essential to independent living and maintaining a balanced way of life. The Life Skills Coordinator will work with all clients on an individual basis, using a goal-oriented and client-centred approach to encourage personal progress. The DBLSC will be required to develop and maintain a monthly calendar; create and implement group programming and workshops using Indigenous teachings and values, and that encourage client collaboration and personal achievement. The Life Skills Coordinator will guide Indigenous clients through the navigation process when relocating to urban environments from their Reserves. The DBLSC will teach clients the necessary skills required for independent living, and guide them through the process of accessing social, health, and financial services.
The DBLSC will provide client support through a trauma informed person-centred, anti-oppressive, decolonized, and Indigenous lens with an emphasis on harm-reduction principals. An integral part of this position is having the ability to work with a two-eyed seeing approach to managerial practices and duties, while simultaneously providing Indigenous based support services for clients with the goal of aiding them through their healing journeys and working toward social and housing stability through community involvement and programming.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- **Administrative**:_
- Create and maintain a monthly calendar; incorporating monthly individual meetings with each client to track goal progress and personal development.
- Compile and maintain accurate client files according to professional and organizational service standards.
- Utilize, maintain, and input client information into the MNFC Database.
- _**Track the DBHC program budget and program spending to ensure accurate spending and record keeping of expenses.**_
- Develop accurate monthly/quarterly/annual reports and ensure reports are submitted in a timely manner.
- **Client Support**:_
- Ensure that program development and delivery are congruent with the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre’s mission, vision, and philosophy by representing the unique needs within the urban Indigenous community.
- Develop and implement group programming and workshops to meet the personal and collective needs of Indigenous clients.
- Teach clients to keep their residence and/or bed space in a tidy and hygienic manner. Encourage clients to participate in the maintenance of the facility. This helps to prepare clients for maintaining a healthy living environment once they leave the Diamond Bailey.
- Maintain a workplace environment and approach that meets the cultural and wholistic needs of Indigenous clients.
- Ensure a positive, healthy, safe, and culturally rich experience for all clients at the Diamond Bailey.
- Practice and maintain a positive leadership role; lead by example with non-judgemental support.
- Show initiative and creativity in developing programs and services that reduce the social barriers for the homeless urban Indigenous population, and work toward bettering their ability to navigate social systems.
- Encourage clients to participate in the maintenance of the facility and shared accommodations.
- Indigenous culture and traditional teachings should be incorporated appropriately into life skills programming to create a relevant, welcoming environment and experience for the urban Indigenous population.
