**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting a **Waste Management Inspector** to fill a permanent full-time position. The Waste Management Inspector reports to the Waste Management Superintendent on various inspection, contract administration and program support related to the Waste Management Disposal Facilities, Garbage, Organics and Recycling Collection Service, and the Diversion Programs.
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Must have valid Municipal Waste Management Facility Operator Certification from Alberta Environment for:
- Class II Municipal Landfill, Category A over 50,000 tonnes/year.
- Class I Composting Facility Category B 500 to 20,000 tonnes/year.
- Three years’ experience in landfill operations, garbage, organics and recycling collection programs. Knowledge of regulations, best practices and equipment.
- Ability to competently deal with customers and contractors in controversial and potentially adversarial situations, on a daily basis.
- Ability to deal with the media and public in both formal and informal situations.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License.
- Knowledge of basic office procedures, engineering procedures and filing methods. Ability to interpret plans and blueprints and performs basic engineering calculations. Ability to complete related courses and acquire knowledge of engineering, and waste management best practices
- Ability to frequently work outside in all kinds of weather.
- Ability to exert moderate physical effort.

**Remuneration**:
$40.27 to $42.39 per hour

**Hours of Work**:
75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
