- **Job Purpose**:_
Provide vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist by taking patient histories and performing diagnostic tests. Provide technical support for research/studies. Provide administrative/technical support to other offices within the Department of Ophthalmology.
- **Duties and responsibilities**:_
Able to take an ocular and systemic history, perform visual acuity tests, basic ocular motility test, lensometry, autorefraction, keratometry, tonometry, pupillometry, corneal pachymetry, OCT, visual field, fundus photography, IOL master and ultrasound testing. Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
Daily laser lens inventory and cleaning, inventory, cleaning and sterilization of instruments. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam/testing rooms.
Complies with all department and hospital protocols; must have Covid 19 vaccinations.
Other duties as assigned which could include reception coverage and providing administrative/technical assistance to other offices as needed.
Participate in research/studies and maintain certifications as required
Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, self-awareness and professionalism.
- **Qualifications**_
- Minimum of 2 years Ophthalmic Assistant experience; being able to perform above noted technician tasks in a high-volume, fast work-paced environment
- Knowledge of EMR an asset, (Oscar Pro, Sunnycare, OR Manager, Quadramed)
- COA certification an asset
- Knowledge of research/studies an asset
