Hamilton, Canada Nucor Rebar Fabrication Full time

Nucor Rebar Fabrication is looking for a Payroll Administrator to join the Payroll/HR team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator ensures the timely processing of employee payrolls. Additionally, this position performs various analyses, reviews, reconciliations, and completes weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting activities. The Payroll Administrator works with many internal and external stakeholders to ensure the reliability and dependability of all transactions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing Navision US and Canadian payrolls every week
- Calculation and payment of taxes every week
- Calculation and payment of garnishments every week
- Calculation and payment of union dues monthly
- Processing Canadian and US Government Documentation
- Preparation of quarterly accounting reconciliations
- Preparation of quarterly reports - US government
- Responding to inquiries, filing and faxes
- This job requires the person to work autonomously and take full responsibility for the payroll issues and all functions relating to the employees on the payroll.
- Additional duties as required by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Previous payroll experience is an asset
- Accurate data entry
- Capable of meeting deadlines and prioritizing workload
- Above average knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong accounting knowledge
- People-oriented - enjoy dealing with people daily and assisting in solving their problems
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Team Player
- CONFIDENTIALITY IS A MUST.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Typical office activities
- Walking, sitting, standing, bending
- Using hands to operate objects, tools, computers, and other electronic equipment
- Lifting/handling computers and related equipment, Vision abilities, including close vision and adjusting focus
- Moderate noise level

SPECIAL DEMANDS
- May be required to work overtime during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end or due to other operational demands.
