The Resource Stewardship Division plays a central role in managing Alberta’s natural resources through science-based planning, policy development, and regulatory oversight. It ensures the sustainable use and protection of Alberta’s land, water, and biodiversity by integrating environmental data, supporting conservation initiatives, and guiding responsible resource development.
**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Athabasca Region Air and Watershed Resource Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating and implementing the province’s air and water environmental management programs. You will provide expert support in stakeholder and community engagement, project and contract management, technical analysis, and cumulative effects management.
Working with diverse stakeholders, including municipalities, airsheds, watershed alliances, industry, ENGOs, and government partners, you will help develop, update, and implement regional and sub-regional management frameworks to address Alberta’s complex and evolving environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the implementation of regional air and water management programs.
- Work closely with technical experts to identify, prioritize, and implement management actions.
- Manage projects and contracts to deliver program goals on time and within budget.
- Integrate management activities across air, water, land, and stakeholder initiatives.
- Support the incorporation of cumulative effects management into policy and decision-making.
- Prepare technical reports and support publication and communication processes.
- Lead data analysis, literature reviews, and development of monitoring parameters, triggers, and performance indicators.
- Engage stakeholders and manage collaborative working groups and sub-teams.

**Education**:
A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
**Experience**:
Minimum of four (4) years of progressive, related experience in:
- Coordinating and delivering environmental projects and contracts, including stakeholder engagement and preparation of technical reports.
**Equivalency**:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Assets**:
- Knowledge of Alberta’s environmental policies, regulations, and cumulative effects management frameworks.
- Familiarity with Integrated Resource Management Systems (IRMS) and related tools.
- Experience with environmental data analysis software or GIS tools.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
