The Kenrick Hotel, a luxury 67-room destination property nestled in the heart of the Rockies in Banff, Alberta, is seeking an experienced and dedicated **Maintenance Manager** to lead our maintenance team in ensuring our property operates smoothly, safely and efficiently.
**About the Role**
As the Maintenance Manager, you will oversee a small team responsible for maintaining the high standards of our facilities. Your service orientated approach will ensure our guests experience a comfortable and welcoming environment. This hands-on leadership role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, effective workload prioritization, and a commitment to excellence.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Lead and Manage Team**:
- Supervise and coordinate a small team of maintenance workers to ensure timely and effective completion of tasks.
- Delegate tasks efficiently, prioritize workload, and maintain proper staffing and coverage within the maintenance department.
**Facility Maintenance**:
- Oversee the operation and upkeep of our saltwater pool, two hot tubs, cold plunge, steam room, and sauna, ensuring all are functioning safely and optimally.
**System Oversight**:
- Manage and maintain the hotel’s boiler and chiller systems, ensuring optimal performance and addressing any issues promptly.
- Conduct and schedule routine preventive maintenance on mechanical systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
**Room Repairs**:
- Perform and delegate basic room repairs, including fixing leaks, minor electrical issues, and repairs to walls, tiles, carpet, or furniture.
**Grounds Care**:
- Oversee basic grounds maintenance, including lawn care, tree trimming, and snow removal to ensure a well-kept property environment.
- Manage recycling and waste processes, including transporting recyclables and handling large-item and hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals) in accordance with municipal guidelines.
**General Upkeep**:
- Conduct general upkeep tasks including paint touch-ups and other minor cosmetic repairs as needed to maintain a welcoming property appearance.
- Assist with the general upkeep of employee housing units to maintain safe and functional living spaces for employees.
**Inventory & Supplies**
- Order and manage maintenance department supplies, including tools, equipment, and chemicals, ensuring adequate inventory is maintained for daily operations.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in maintenance management, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of pool and hot tub systems; Pool Operators Certificate - Level 1 required.
- Experience with HVAC systems, including boilers and chillers, is preferred.
- Basic proficiency in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail orientated approach.
- Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with other hotel departments and management.
- Availability to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and on-call support for emergencies as needed.
**Certifications**
- Pool Operator Certificate - Level 1 required.
- Valid Drivers License required.
- First Aid Certification and WHMIS preferred, or willing to obtain upon hire.

Pay: $70,000.00-$84,000.00 per year
