We are experiencing a cultural evolution that travels through the Intergovernmental Relations and Corporate Communications team to the entire organization. Cochrane’s Intergovernmental Relations and Corporate Communications team advise Council and the senior leadership team on public engagement and communications strategy and promote programs, services, events, opportunities and governance through the Cochrane website, social media, advertising, publications, media relations and more.

**Ok, but what is a Public Engagement Advisor at Cochrane?**
Reporting to the Manager of Intergovernmental Relations & Corporate Communications, this position contributes to the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies for Cochrane. Working directly with Cochrane internal and external stakeholders, the Public Engagement Advisor prepares stakeholder engagement plans, leads the coordination of internal and external engagement efforts and takes an advisory role providing strategic advice to Cochrane staff for public engagement processes.
**As the Public Engagement Advisor, you will**:
- Identify, develop, implement and evaluate multi-channel engagement plans adhering to International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) standards for community and stakeholder input.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support public engagement strategies for corporate and department level programs, including project planning, highlighting engagement initiatives, and ensuring strategic priority alignment.
- Create, maintain, and evaluate strategies to increase public participation in engagement activities including identifying effective tools and strategies to meet public engagement objectives.
- Plan, create and evaluate strategic and inclusive engagement initiatives, including specialized engagement tactics for large community events.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate communications and marketing strategies to support public engagement.
- Provide community engagement information updates through various channels.
- Support the Intergovernmental Relations & Corporate Communications team in producing and supporting initiatives that advance Cochrane’s goals and objectives, including internal communications strategies and associated tactics.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and maintain communication platforms to ensure brand and visual identity standards are followed; educates and advises other stakeholders on brand identity compliance and strategy.
- Develop and adhere to related internal procedures, communication protocol and legislative requirements.
- Coordinates public engagement events including event setup, venue bookings, material preparation, media releases and social media advertising.

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related discipline.
- Three to five years of experience in an equitable level position.
- Experience in developing and executing strategic public engagement campaigns.
- Previous experience working in a municipal setting is considered an asset.
- Certificate of Completion in the IAP2 Foundations in Public Participation (preferred)
- Certified Public Participation Professional (CP3) designation (preferred)
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License
